On the morning of June 19th, the 2025 Graduation Ceremony of the School of Mathematics at Renmin University of China was successfully held in the 133rd Shaanxi Public Lecture Hall of the Student Activity Center. The ceremony was attended by the Party Secretary of the School of Mathematics, Ke Yuanyuan, the Deputy Party Secretary Shen Jian, the Vice Dean Jiang Hao, the Vice Dean Wang Shanwen, the class advisors Lai Xiulan, Xiang Tian, and Sun Hongpeng, as well as teachers and counselors, who gathered together with the 2025 graduates to witness this significant moment. The event was presided over by the Deputy Party Secretary Shen Jian.
Before the official start of the graduation ceremony, a commemorative video for the class of 2025 was played on the spot. As the video began, it felt as if time had reversed. Scenes of eager moments of seeking knowledge and times of laughter and joy, one after another, brought forth warm and beautiful images that moved and evoked nostalgia.
The graduation ceremony kicked off to the resounding national anthem.
Party Secretary Ke Yuanyuan delivered the opening remarks first. She extended her warmest congratulations to the 118 graduates who have successfully completed their studies and sent her most sincere blessings to them. Using the metaphor "It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to cultivate a person", she put forward three expectations: First, to have a deep root system: anchor in your original aspiration and lay a solid foundation for development. She hopes that the students will carry forward the red genes and red bloodline, adhere to their original aspiration, and create a more meaningful, more elevated and more refined life. Second, to strengthen the trunk: take knowledge as the trunk and expand the growth dimension. The growth of the trunk requires the nourishment and accumulation of professional skills and rich knowledge. She hopes that the students will improve their professional knowledge, expand their knowledge structure, enhance their core competitiveness for sustainable development in the process of high-quality development, and adapt to the new situation and new changes. Third, to have lush branches and leaves: take passion as the light and enrich the life pattern. She hopes that the students will always maintain enthusiasm for life and yearning for beauty. In their future studies and work, they should keep a pleasant mood and a healthy body, let passion be the direction of growth, and strive to become "trees of the times".
The representatives of the graduating students made their speeches respectively. The representative of the undergraduate graduates, Xiao Yufeng, took "Measuring the World with Mathematical Thinking" as the main theme. He recalled the starting point four years ago when he entered the School of Mathematics with curiosity, and shared his transformation from "struggling in an unfamiliar logical system" to "solving modeling problems through teamwork". He mentioned the silent nights spent pondering after-class exercises and the intellectual collisions at academic forums, expressing his gratitude for the rationality, tenacity and critical thinking that mathematics has endowed him. "The School of Mathematics not only taught us how to deduce and prove, but also taught us rational methods to face the complex world." He expressed that he would always remember the school motto of "seeking truth from facts", and with the attitude of integrating knowledge and action, he would head towards a broader future. He wished to illuminate his path with the light of mathematics and write an extraordinary chapter of his own with the spirit of youth.
In her speech, Huang Mengdi, a representative of the master's graduates, looked back on her three years at the School of Mathematics of Renmin University of China. She recalled many ordinary yet touching and unforgettable moments during her postgraduate studies, expressing gratitude for her teachers' guidance and enlightenment as well as her classmates' support and mutual assistance. She stated that the "ability to think independently and the spirit of rigorous scholarship" bestowed by her alma mater are lifelong treasures. She encouraged her fellow graduates to integrate their individual selves into the greater self of the motherland, to take knowledge as a sword and responsibility as a shield, to seize opportunities in challenges, to be courageous and proactive, and to shine in their respective fields, not letting down the times or the nurturing of their university.
Liu Yang, the representative of the doctoral graduates, reviewed his doctoral experience with the unique humor of a mathematician. He compared doing research to "solving nonlinear partial differential equations" and joked that the most important theorem his supervisor taught him was "if the proof is too difficult, just change the topic." He encouraged his fellow students, "Life is not like mathematics, which has a unique solution, but like statistics. As long as the sample size is large enough, you can always find significant meaning!" 。 I hope to embark on a brand-new journey of life with the expectations and blessings of the school and the college. I wish the school and the college a bright future and even greater achievements!
Teacher Representative and the head teacher of the 2021 Top Talent Experimental Class, Mr. Tian, shared his insights based on his teaching experience and offered seven pieces of advice to the graduates. He urged the students to always maintain a learning mindset, adhere to honesty and integrity, remain humble and grateful, never forget their original dreams, face difficulties optimistically, have a sense of patriotism, and pursue their passions fearlessly. He concluded by wishing the students to find the optimal solution in the equation of life and hoped that they would return as young and spirited as when they left, after exploring the vast universe.
When drinking water, one should remember its source; when passing on the torch, one should keep the flame alive. The graduating students, with deep affection for their alma mater and college, have organized donation intention statistics by class. The amount of the donation is not important; what matters is the graduates' sincerity. At the meeting, Huang Qianying, a student from Macao and a representative of the 2025 graduating class, presented a donation intention card to the college. Although the card is small, it is filled with the gratitude of the students of the School of Mathematics towards their almamater.
At the time of parting, the college has also carefully prepared a graduation memento for each graduate, hoping that it will accompany the students and bring them blessings. May each graduate have a bright future. Every graduate from the School of Mathematics has demonstrated wisdom and tenacity throughout their academic journey, writing their own brilliant chapters through hard work and are all worthy of the title "Outstanding Graduate". The graduates were called up to the stage in batches to have their moment of glory captured with the school leaders and their class advisors. Teachers Wang Shanwen, Xiang Tian and Sun Hongpeng presented certificates to the undergraduate graduates and took photos with them, while Ke Yuanyuan, Jiang Hao and Lai Xiulan presented certificates to the postgraduate graduates and took photos with them. Finally, the entire audience took a group photo amid the cheers of "a bright future ahead". With the school song of Yan'an University playing, the 2025 Graduates' Assembly of the School of Mathematics, Renmin University of China, came to a successful conclusion.
